Who is Martijn de Meulder?
This Simple Yet Effective Web Counter is a project that I started in 2008 when I made my portfolio site (written in Dutch) and needed to add efficient and fast vistor tracking to it. I wanted to know who visited my site, what they did, which Google key words they used and keep a good record of these visits. And i wanted it to be stupid simple. Despite the plethora of available scripts I could not find exactly what I wanted, so I decided to build such a framework myself. The result is this project that contains lots of original code and heavily modified open source PHP-code from scattered web resources, referred to in the files. I would like to give it to you via this site to use and build on. You are free to take it, modify, extend and professionalize it, provided that you always keep references from the files to this site intact (GPL license). And of course I would love to accept your work and place it on the site here, just to make the counter better.I am a business journalist, surfer and proud father from the Netherlands. I guess the limitations in not being a professional programmer helped me a lot in keeping this framework simple ;) I hope you like it, please let me know if you have any interesting feedback.
